Communications Section
The Consolidated City of Flagstaff/Coconino County Communications Center is the dispatch center for law enforcement, fire, and emergency medical services.

The section combines quality employees and modern technology to give timely public service. Tours and site visits are given to local groups or outside agencies interested in the consolidation model and technology.

Success Through Technology
Computer Aided Dispatch
Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD)
In October of 2001, the Intergraph Public Safety computer aided dispatch (CAD) system was placed on-line. The field units are plotted on a detailed map and move as their locations are updated through global positioning technology. A benefit of this CAD system is that it allows dispatchers to quickly identify the real location of a field unit that is in trouble. Field units are also equipped with the same map and ability to "see" other units.

800 MHz Radio System
Flagstaff recently transitioned to an 800 MHz digital trunking radio system.
