Proper Disposal of Residential Syringes and Sharps
The responsible disposal of syringes and sharps can protect the public and the environment. You can help prevent injury, illness, and pollution by following some simple steps when you dispose of the sharp objects and contaminated materials you use in administering health care in your home.
Never place drugs, needles, syringes, lancets or other sharp objects in recycling containers.
Needles, syringes, lancets, and other sharp objects should be placed in a hard plastic or metal container with a screw-on or tightly secured lid. Do not use glass or clear plastic containers. When the container is full, place the lid on the container and seal securely. If using a coffee can, seal with heavy duty duct tape. With a permanent marker, print: "sharps enclosed, not recyclable" on the outside of the container. Discard sealed container with the rest of your landfill garbage/trash.

Phone Book Recycling
Phone books are recycled annually, May 1 through July 31 at the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). Please save your phone books for this yearly event. The phone books are transported and recycled by US Green Fiber in Phoenix.
Phone books are not recycled year round and should not be placed into your regular co-mingled recycle container.
A great way to avoid extra phone books is to opt-out of receiving them. The Yellow Pages Association recently created a national opt-out program that allows individuals to choose what Yellow Pages they would like or opt out of receiving any. Flagstaff residents can visit www.yellowpagesoptout.com to select which of the five listed yellow pages they would like to receive.
