Community Values

The Wildland Urban Interface encompasses those areas where community values are at risk. The reality is that the interface is bigger than most realize. It can easily encompass several jurisdictions and ownerships. It may extend for miles and include substantial public land. A commitment to protect and preserve all neighborhood and community values-at-risk is required, in both thought and action. These values include:

  • Recreational opportunities
  • Watershed values
  • Scenic vistas
  • Wildlife habitat
  • Economics
  • Public safety
  • Community peace-of-mind and well-being
  • Public support of local governments
