Regional Plan Terminology

Terms to Know

  • Citizen Advisory Committee - A team that has been appointed by the Flagstaff City Council and Coconino Board of Supervisors to develop the Regional Plan 2012 with the Core Planning Team, by recommending goals and policies.
  • Cliff Notes - A packet on each element that contains the most updated information on how it will affect the Regional Plan.
  • Core Planning Team - City and County planners with the Flagstaff Metropolitan Planning Organization (FMPO) research and analyze elements of the Regional Plan, lead the public process, and report to the Steering Committee, City Council, and the County Board of Supervisors.
  • Elements - Arizona State Statute defined topics that must be covered in a General Plan or Regional Plan.
  • Focus Group - An intense discussion of different stake holders reviewing the open house opinions and existing information on particular topics to understand the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats, and to suggest potential goals and policies.
  • Open House - An opportunity for the Flagstaff regional public to share their viewpoints on various topics to begin defining the direction the community would like to go.
  • Regional Plan - A development guide for the City of Flagstaff and surrounding communities. State statute uses the word "General Plan" and every community must have one.
  • Steering Committee - Liaison to City Council and the County Board of Supervisors about the Regional Plan process.
