Elizabeth A. Burke, City Clerk


Liz returned to the City of Flagstaff as City Clerk on July 1, 2012, a position she previously held in 2003. She came back after serving as City Clerk of the City of Prescott, Arizona from 2005 to 2012 and working in the private sector for 1 ½ years. She served as City Clerk of the City of Show Low, Arizona from 1984 to 2003.

Liz has a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies (Enterprise in Society – Public Service) from Northern Arizona University and is a strong supporter of lifelong learning. She was the second clerk in the State of Arizona to receive her Master Municipal Clerk from IIMC and is a Certified Municipal Elections Official from AMCA/League of Arizona Cities and Towns and a Certified Election Officer of the State of Arizona. She is also a past participant of Arizona Town Hall.

She is an active member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and the Arizona Municipal Clerks Association. She previously served on the AMCA Board as President, Vice President and Treasurer, and currently is a member of the AMCA Legislative Committee. In May 2016, Liz became one of two directors of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) representing Region VIII, which includes Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, and Utah. In July of 2017, she was recognized with the the AMCA President's Award of Distinction.

Past civic involvement has included Prescott Area Leadership Board, "Big" with Big Brothers Big Sisters, and various positions with AYSO, as well as involvement with her church. She is also a member of the 2016 Class of Flagstaff Leadership Program.
