This workshop will cover climate change and renewable energy curriculum, hands-on activities, teacher check-out kits, and useful information for teachers wanting to participate in the Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit (including the Climate Action, KidWind, and Solar Structure challenges). Information and activities are geared towards 4th to 12th grades.
This workshop is open to teachers, informal educators, youth group leaders, parents etc. It is hosted by Willow Bend Environmental Education Center in collaboration with the City of Flagstaff Sustainability Program and The Arboretum at Flagstaff. Climate Change & Renewable Energy
Do you want to engage your students in climate action and renewable energy? Interested in participating in the Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit, the Climate Action Challenge, or the KidWind Challenge? Attend this exciting workshop, where City of Flagstaff Sustainability Program and Willow Bend staff will walk you through several resources covering the basic science of climate change and renewable energy. The first section of the workshop will cover local climate change threats and how you can mentor youth through a climate action project, with focus on the Climate Action Challenge. The second section of the workshop will cover Wind for Schools review teacher check-out kits, and prepare mentors for the KidWind Challenge. The workshop will provide information about the 2020 Flagstaff Youth Climate Summit.
