COVID-19 Guidance for Hotels

On March 16, the Flagstaff City Mayor, Coral Evans issued a proclamation deemed necessary for the protection of life and property in the city of Flagstaff closing a number of businesses and establishments to members of the public. This proclamation is effective March 17, 2020 at 8 p.m. through April 1, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Hotels and motels may remain open and continue to operate during this time period with several conditions. Pursuant to the March 16 proclamation, businesses are prohibited from serving food and beverages for consumption on premises and members of the public are prohibited from entering and remaining to dine or consume beverages. The purpose is social distancing to prevent groups of people from congregating in eating areas. Accordingly, hotels and motels may continue to serve breakfast or other meals, but consumers must pick up their food and leave the area before consuming it. Any dining areas within the hotel or motel, such as a breakfast seating area, must be closed.

Hotels and motels are also prohibited from operating pools, fitness or recreation areas during this time period. Pursuant to the March 16 proclamation, gymnasiums, fitness centers, recreation centers, indoor sports facilities, indoor exercise facilities, exercise studios, yoga and barre studios, and other similar facilities must be closed.
